About TOO CLOSE TO CALL:

All-American wide receiver Kyler Tate’s life is about to change. A fairytale college career skyrocketed him to the NFL draft. Adoration and opportunity are thrown in his direction wherever he goes, thanks to being chosen in the first round by the Los Angeles Rage.

None of the accolades mean anything, though, without his high school sweetheart, Bree Justice, by his side. Four years ago, she walked away from Kyler, choosing a quiet life over the flash and notoriety his career would someday bring.

Now he’s back in their Indiana hometown, refusing to leave for Los Angeles without her. Demanding she give their life together a shot. Her heart never stopped bleeding for the love of her life, but Bree’s decision was final. Too bad their wild attraction has only been amplified by their separation, and Kyler won’t quit until Bree is wearing his ring.

Gina’s Review

I got swept away by Tessa Bailey’s ability to tell a sexy and fun romance a couple of years ago and have been gobbling up her books ever since. Too Close to Call – a Romancing the Clarksons novella – is no exception. In fact, I was swept into this story right away because it is one of my favorite premises – rekindling of a romance meant to be. Not only that, but it involves a small town in the Midwest and football. If you know me, that’s a perfect combination (read my bio). 🙂

Kyler is going pro – NFL pro. Coming from a small town in Indiana, he’s a hometown hero that swept college football by storm and has not been drafted in the NFL. But none of it matters because when his name gets called in the draft, the only thing he can think about is the fact that the love of his life – Bree – is not there. Realizing that nothing he has achieved since their breakup at the end of high school will mean anything if she is not with him, he goes home to make her his wife. And he’s willing to give everything up to be with her if her choice is to stay in small town America. Can anyone swoon?!? I mean seriously. Kyler is not your typical jock. Sure, he has the body and the face, but he’s not cocky – even after all his notoriety.

Bree followed in her father’s footsteps with a dream of being a veterinarian. When her mother left the family for bigger and better things, Bree took on the role of “mother” to her sister and became responsible for her family’s happiness. A big role for someone so young. So when Kyler ventures back to town with his sights set on her, all the memories they shared over the years come crashing down on her – as do the reasons she broke up with him their senior year. She can’t leave home because she has responsibilities there.

Once again, Ms. Bailey has crafted two extremely likable characters that dance right off the pages. Their quick banter is fun and indicative of a lifetime of friendship. Their chemistry is off the charts. And it is clear they both love each other beyond belief and you are cheering for them from page one. I thoroughly enjoyed Too Close to Call – ate it up.

I give Too Close to Call 4 shimmering silver buckles.

About Tessa Bailey:

Tessa Bailey is originally from Carlsbad, California. The day after high school graduation, she packed her yearbook, ripped jeans and laptop, driving cross-country to New York City in under four days.

Her most valuable life experiences were learned thereafter while waitressing at K-Dees, a Manhattan pub owned by her uncle. Inside those four walls, she met her husband, best friend and discovered the magic of classic rock, managing to put herself through Kingsborough Community College and the English program at Pace University at the same time. Several stunted attempts to enter the work force as a journalist followed, but romance writing continued to demand her attention.

She now lives in Long Island, New York with her husband of eight years and four-year-old daughter. Although she is severely sleep-deprived, she is incredibly happy to be living her dream of writing about people falling in love.
