About Sweet Victory:

Sophie Caldwell might not like asking for help, but help is what she needs if she’s going to save her family business from her uncle. Her grandma left one rule for Sophie if she wants to gain sole ownership before she’s thirty—get married. Yeah, fat chance of that happening since she hasn’t had a boyfriend in years, and now she can’t get her uncle off her ass.

British-born MMA fighter Xander James has never lost a fight, and he’s not about to start now. He’s on the brink of a comeback that could make him a UFC champion, but his landlord wants to take away his last chance by shutting down his gym. Hell, no. Fortunately, his landlord’s niece has a problem of her own. Time for a proposal she can’t refuse.

Gina’s Review:

Oh what fun! Seriously, Ms. Maxwell had me laughing one minute, watery-eyed the next and needing a cold shower after that! This story is just pure fun!

Sophie Caldwell and Xander James have such chemistry it practically burns up the pages-or in my case my Kindle. These two have known each other for a while and have done a regular flirt, but neither considered it more than that. Sophie is pierced, jade-green haired confectioner, keeping her grandmother’s dream alive at the bakery because her illness makes her unable to. But her uncle is a scheming, greedy man and wants to sell the building to a developer to build a mall.

In walks our hero, Xander-a British MMA fighter, trying to get back into the game after an injury. His gym is across the street from Sophie’s bakery and it, too, is subject to her uncle’s sale. The only way for Sophie to save the building is to be legitimately married or turn thirty. Since she has three years til her thirtieth birthday, marriage may be the only option-but not one she’s even consider until Xander brings it up.

Ms Maxwell crafted a wonderfully entertaining story. There are struggles. There are good times. There are awkward moments as these two take their relationship from flirty friends to husband and wife. I could hardly put this book down. It was a great escape. Plus, there are multiple secondary characters that make this story so worthwhile. If you get a chance to grab this book, I strongly recommend it.

I give Ms. Maxwell’s Sweet Victory 4.5 silver buckles.

About Gina L. Maxwell:

Gina L. Maxwell is a full-time writer, wife, and mother living in the upper Midwest, despite her scathing hatred of snow and cold weather. An avid romance novel addict, she began writing as an alternate way of enjoying the romance stories she loves to read. Her debut novel, Seducing Cinderella, hit both the USA Today and New York Times bestseller lists in less than four weeks, and she’s been living her newfound dream ever since.

When she’s not reading or writing steamy romance novels, she spends her time losing at Scrabble (and every other game) to her high school sweetheart, doing her best to hang out with their teenagers before they fly the coop, and dreaming about her move to sunny Florida once they do.
