About Bound to Submit:

From the ruins of an abandoned church comes Baltimore’s hottest and most exclusive BDSM club. Twelve Masters. Infinite fantasies. Welcome to Blasphemy…

He thinks he caused her pain, but she knows he’s the only one who can heal her…

Kenna Sloane lost her career and her arm in the Marines, and now she feels like she’s losing herself. Submission is the only thing that ever freed her from pain and made her feel secure, and Kenna needs to serve again. Bad. The only problem is the Dom she wants once refused her submission and broke her heart, but, scarred on the inside and out, she’s not looking for love this time. She’s not even sure she’s capable.

Griffin Hudson is haunted by the mistakes that cost him the only woman he ever loved. Now she’s back at his BDSM club, Blasphemy, and more beautiful than ever, and she’s asking for his help with the pain he knows he caused. Even though he’s scared to hurt her again, he can’t refuse her, because he’d give anything to earn a second chance. And this time, he’ll hold on forever.

Gina’s Review

I have loved Laura Kaye since the first time I touched Hearts in Darkness several years ago and I have loved her Hard Ink and The Hero series as well. So, I was super excited to be asked to read and review her first book – Bound to Submit – in her Blasphemy series.

The plot is good. Kenna Sloane is a lovely heroine. Her prior relationship with Griffin Hudson bombed because she expressed her feelings to him and he didn’t want anything serious. He enjoyed his scenes in the BDSM club with Kenna, but he didn’t want more – or so he thought. So, with that little push and looking for more meaning in her life, Kenna joins the Marines. She served her country and lost part of her arm in doing so. Now, she speaks to other veterans and those institutions and organizations that help veterans as a way to help others. And she’s back in town and is struggling with the loss of her best friend in the Marines, her amputation and the depression that comes with so many of our veterans who have served. Reinserting herself into the BDSM world seems to suggest itself as a means of her dealing with all the emotions and thoughts that circle her mind daily.

Like I said, the plot is good and I enjoyed the story. But I wasn’t swept away with it like I have been in other Laura Kaye books. Kenna didn’t always seem true to her character and we never really get too much into Griffin. In the past, I’ve been drawn into Ms. Kaye’s characters – loving every minute of their stories. Something about Kenna seemed off to me. I wanted to love her. I say this with the utmost respect for the characters and Ms. Kaye – who is a phenomenal author – but this story didn’t have me swooning like I thought it would. That said, the bondage scenes were sexy – hot, hot, hot. And Griffin – though we don’t get to know him as well as Kenna – is certainly a melt-your-panties-off hero.

I give Bound to Submit 3 silver buckles.
