Welcoming The Bad Boy by Annie Rains – Review

Griffin is going to need all his old tricks to unleash her wild side.

Hero’s Welcome #3

Annie Rains

Releasing August 2nd, 2016

From the

bestselling author of Welcome to Forever (“Full of heart and emotion!”—Lori

Wilde) comes a sweet, sexy novel about breaking all the rules. In Seaside,

North Carolina, the boys on the base are heroes—but that doesn’t mean they’re

always well-behaved.

As a preacher’s daughter, Valerie

Hunt only dates the very respectable, very boring men who meet her father’s

strict standards. In private, however, she leads a double life as a romance

writer of steamy stories about the least respectable sorts of men. Valerie has

always kept her hottest fantasies separate from her real life, but when she

nearly runs a hot-blooded biker off the road, the lines begin to blur.

Even though Valerie almost killed

him, Griffin Black can’t be angry after he learns the reason for her distracted

driving: an unruly puppy belonging to her ailing friend. As a member of the

military police K-9 unit, Griffin insists on training the dog himself. But he

soon wonders how he’s ever going to stay disciplined around the most alluring,

down-to-earth, and totally unattainable woman he’s ever met. Valerie is the

ultimate good girl. And Griffin is going to need all his old tricks to unleash

her wild side.

Nat’s Review:

Welcoming the Bad Boy had me hooked from the start! I find it pretty hard to resist any story involving a man in uniform, and this one did not disappoint. Griffin Black is a Marine, who is now serving as a K9 police officer and trainor, that almost gets run off the road by the sweet and sassy Valerie while she is trying to get her newly acquired puppy off her lap while she’s driving. Their first interaction created instant sparks, but I really enjoyed how Annie Rains slowly developed their relationship. Valerie is the town Pastor’s daughter, but unbeknownst to her Father- or really most people in her life, she is also a successful romance author…who at the moment is finding it difficult to put any words on paper. This quickly changes when the sexy “bad boy” Griffin stumbles into her life and creates plenty for her to write about, and she also discovers that he isn’t actually much of a bad boy at all.

There is so much more to this story than just sexual chemistry between a hot guy and a beautiful woman. With every page, I loved both Griffin and Val even more. They both have struggles that they are trying to overcome, and they find strength in each other that helps them figure out paths to happiness. Griffin is dealing with the effects of slowly losing his Mother to Alzheimer’s- and having experienced losing a loved one to this awful disease firsthand, I found the way that Rains described the emotions that he was going through so accurate and raw. It was heartbreaking! Val assists Griffin with this situation in such a selfless manner that I found so touching. The entire story was just really beautifully written.

I found myself highlighting passages constantly because of the way that Annie Rains writes- I knew I’d want to be able to easily get to them to reread again and again. And of course, what would any romance novel be without some steamy sex scenes? This book has some that will cause your cheeks to burn and your heart to beat quite a bit faster- they are HOTT! So no reading at work ladies 🙂

I have to say that I love everything about this story! It’s the kind of book that is written so well, that I felt as if I were watching a movie. It was perfect!

I give Welcoming the Bad Boy 4.5 Silver Buckles!
