About the Book
Title: The Horse List
Author: Anna Lores
Genre: Erotic Romance / Romantic Suspense
Recently divorced from an abusive husband still intent to control her, Ava Black has two weeks before she moves back to her conservative hometown.
Encouraged by her best friend, she resurrects the wish list she started as a young girl when her number one desire was her very own horse. Over the years, The Horse List had become a mature list of her most erotic fantasies and a symbol of her rebirth as an independent woman. She can complete some of the items alone, but not everything. She needs an experienced partner with resources and the connections to places she’s only dreamed of going.
Could the handsome and wealthy artist Eric North be the partner she seeks? Will her drive to complete the list be enough to overcome her fear of him discovering the scars left from years of abuse? Will Eric protect her from her ex-husband, or will she go home to start over and give up her one chance to complete The Horse List?
I just finished reading The Horse List by Anna Lores and my heart is pounding from what took place in the final pages of this book. So suspenseful and completely unexpected, and it left off on such a cliffhanger, I can’t wait to find out what happens in the sequel!
This story conjured up such varied emotions within me- from humor to hatred, from lust to anger and of course the erotic scenes were AMAZINGLY well written. Anna Lores does a magnificent job depicting this sensual love story, where a passionate relationship blossoms unexpectedly between Ava and Eric. Although he only just met her, he will stop at nothing to help her recover from her abusive marriage and become the strong woman that he knows she can become. He only wants to love her and to receive her love in return, and he shows this to her with every interaction and experience that they share.
Ava feels safe with Eric, which is such a contrast to the abusive life that she lived with her husband, Steve, where she was treated more like an animal than a wife. I actually found some of the scenes involving Steve and Ava to be extremely disturbing, he makes me sick. What’s so frightening, is that this is the reality that some women are forced to live daily. It’s a life that I can’t relate to in the slightest, so the control that Steve clearly has over Ava was quite shocking to me. It was really eye-opening though and portrayed so well. The horror that Ava experienced at the hands of her husband is completely unimaginable. There’s such a distinction between the abusive life that she escaped from and the opportunity that Eric provides for her to be cherished and adored- and she is constantly reminding herself that Eric is not the same as her husband. It’s as if she was brainwashed by Steve, and she’s just now allowing herself to realize that she deserves to have a life where she is truly loved. She is also realizing that it is possible that she can have that life with Eric.
Ava and Eric’s relationship grows as he helps her to complete her Horse List, which is a list of all of the things that she wants to experience to help her regain her independence. Some of the things on her list are simple- like getting a tattoo or piercings, but others are much more personal… and sexual. There are some of the most erotic scenes in this book! The kind of scenes that will make your husband or partner thankful that you read these kinds of books! It makes me flushed just thinking about it!
I give The Horse List 4.5 Silver Buckles!
It has a really interesting and suspenseful story line, deep character development and super hot sex scenes. It’s possible that women who have been in abusive relationships could experience some difficulty reading this book, but having said that- I feel that it is definitely worth your time. After all, it is a story of hope and strength, as Ava is doing her best to overcome her fears and create a better life for herself. Don’t miss the amazing novel! Thank you Anna Lores, Pink Lace Book Blog will definitely keep our eyes on you!

Anna started writing romance as a by-product of insomnia. After a year of late night reading, she borrowed her son’s laptop after he went to bed each night, and set about breathing life to her very own characters. After a month of writing in the middle of the night, she was surprised with a new laptop of her own to pursue her dreams. With a B.A. in English Literature and a desire to fill her world with wonderful stories she and her close friends could not just talk about, but gush over, she shed her job as mom of three in the late night hours and assumed her alter ego of dirty girl.
