Alexandria Collins has one week to live carefree—no ghosts of her past or pressures of her future haunting her. Reinventing herself as “Charli,” she is knocked off her feet by a sexy, mysterious man who brings her pleasure like she never imagined. With her heart at stake, she forgets that decisions made in the dark of night reappear in the bright light of day.
“Some of my tastes are unique. They aren’t for everyone. I understand that.”
Lennox “Nox” Demetri is wealthy, confident, and decisive—he knows what he wants. From the first time he sees Charli at an exclusive resort, he knows he wants her. Although he is usually the one to make the rules, together they agree on one:
One week. No more.
When betrayal comes from those closest to Alexandria, she must decide how far she is willing to go to survive. Choices are not always easy, especially when they involve the heart, body, and soul. After all, Infidelity is a business, and some rules are meant to be broken.
“Is it really cheating if you’re doing it to yourself?”
From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Aleatha Romig comes a sexy, new dominant hero who knows what he wants, and a strong-willed heroine who has plans of her own. With classic Aleatha Romig twists, turns, deceptions, and devotions, this new epic dark romance will have readers swooning one minute and screaming the next. Have you been Aleatha’d?
BETRAYAL is a full-length novel and the first of five in the INFIDELITY series.
When I read the book blurb for Betrayal, I was interested. Two people meet and agree to one week—no names, no past, nothing more than just the two of them. But Aleatha Romig’s story goes beyond that. Alexandria Charles Montague Collins (aka Alex or Charli) and Lennox Demetri (aka Nox) have a fascinating story to tell.
Alex comes from a wealthy southern family—a very wealthy family that has certain expectations for her. Those expectations include her getting married and carrying on the Montague bloodline. However, none of that is Alex’s plan. She graduated from Stanford and has plans to be attend Columbia law school. Her family is dead-set against her following these dreams. How far are they willing to go? That is a good question.
But before she returns to reality and the battle with her family, she takes a fun girls-vacation with her best friend, Chelsea, in Del Mar. And oh what a vacation it turned out to be, especially after meeting Nox.
They have chemistry immediately and it appears they are both looking for an escape—something to take their minds off the issues in their lives.
The story weaves between the week with Nox and Alex’s life back at Montague mansion. Alex’s past, Alex’s life at Montague is enthralling. I found myself eager for those scenes—hungry for what it is that made Alex, Alex. Though we never get the full story (because this is a series), Ms. Romig does an amazing job of luring us in with the people from Alex’s past. The characters from this storyline had depth. Her stepfather. Her mother. The woman—like a nanny—that practically raised her. Her catty girlfriends. Her ex-boyfriend. The history between these characters was rich with intrigue. I’d read the next installment—Cunning—just to find out more about Alex’s past.
We learn little of Nox—at least not any juicy details… yet. We have little clues, but not enough pieces to put the Nox puzzle together at all. I look forward to learning more about him.
Though Alex and Nox’s week together was steamy and fun, I felt it was a little rushed. Some of the details that would bond Alex and Nox together seemed to be glossed over.
Now that I’ve read the whole book and realize Betrayal is just book one of a five book series, I understand why this had to be ushered in as it was—how else would we get to Infidelity? What is Infidelity? You’ll have to read the book to find out.
I did feel that the draw between these two could have been more tightly written. I’m not saying the book is not well written—it is. The imagery is great. The characters are well-rounded. And the storyline is gripping. The twist in the end will leave you eager for book two—Cunning. Well worth the read.

“Just know, Miss Charli, no last name, the next time you break one of my rules, I won’t respond as lightly.”
“You won’t?” I asked, more aroused than curious. “What exactly does that mean?”
He moved closer, seductively teasing my breasts with the presence of his wide chest. “I guess we’ll need to find that out together.”
I had to lift my chin to see his eyes. The light blue sparkled with suggestions. The longer I stared, the more a part of me wanted to find out exactly what he had in mind. There was also a part of me that knew that wasn’t a good idea. I shrugged nonchalantly. “Then I guess I better not break any of your rules.”
“Where’s the fun in that?” he asked.
“Oh, I believe I can be all kinds of fun.” I gasped as he pulled me nearer. My nipples—the ones that had softened during our conversation—were now hard nubs burning with desire as they were pressed against his broad chest. That wasn’t our only connection that made my insides tighten. Lower, his hardening erection pushed against my stomach.
